This longing and waiting is not only found in the season of Advent but we feel it more heavily in it. We are all longing and waiting for something and in this season you can know that you are not alone. In this waiting we are also longing for the day when all will be made right, when all our tears will be no more, and peace will be the norm. I pray these poems will help yo see hope in the waiting allowing your heart to expand with peace. The king is coming with joy!
The Road to Jerusalem
(INSPIRED BY LUKE 1:25,49, LUKE 2:1-7, ISAIAH30:21)
The journey begins with a song, “The Mighty One has done great things” Enveloped in dust and uncertainty Met with resistance and disbelief Yet again a song comes forth, “because of His tender mercy, He will be our guide.” The path of peace called to the humble “This is the way; walk in it” The voice they heeded finding faithfulness afresh On dusty paths they walked in step with Him Each step leading them closer to the promised One. The governor calls for a census The journey becomes tumultuous and long A virgin mother full with child and An obedient husband leading his family home A first stop of the journey already set for this new babe. The little town of Bethlehem, bathed in brightness, Despite its small stature would rise up to receive the king This house of bread would humbly welcome the true Bread of Life And from there disperse the heavenly nourishment To Jerusalem and to the ends of the world. The brightness of the star as a guide For the wise men seeing the newborn king They journeyed to Jerusalem first Only to find that the King of Kings was in Bethlehem They follow the star and with their gifts point Him back to Jerusalem. First he must go to Egypt and be called back again To the shores of Galilee and Nazareth He is led There He sheds His childhood and puts on His destiny He is headed to Jerusalem where His fate awaits He lives already with eyes fixed to Jerusalem These twists and turns could not deter Him He was man though eternally God He was King and High priest Coming to set us free through His willing sacrifice Though His journey began with a song it would end with anthem. “It is finished! I will soon return,” “Yes come, soon Lord Jesus.” ~DFD
Advent Peace Playlist
Second week of Advent
Music has always helped me mark time, keeping pace with the rhythm of peace. I want slow down and rest in the longing but also learn to rejoice in it. This third week of Advent playlist helps me do just that. I can be present in this season of waiting with the help of those who created these beautiful songs. May this Advent season continue to help you slowly find your way to the Light of the World.
' Enter into his gates with thanksgiving , and into his courts with praise . Give thanks to him , and bless his name . '
Psalms 100:4 WMB
Gracefully,
Daisy
