God With Us
(Inspired from Matthew 1)
Before He came on a starry night The prophet proclaimed a promise Of A coming King in pure brightness alight Immanuel He would be God with us This King was before history He was, is, and always will be God with us He was God with Rahab She sought him He saw her Her heart for Him astir For now eternal seed would come from her He was God with Ruth, a refugee And planted her right into his family Then from her loins Would come a chosen king One who of the Rescuer would sing He was God with Bathsheba Giving her suffering, hope In grief so deep her soul was enveloped Yet, He gave her life purpose Her Son, a king, pointing to the future Wisdom of God He was God with Josiah, a child king Like the babe in Bethlehem saved from the sword He pointed the people to God’s Word The Incarnate Word of God Would come to make heaven and nature sing The lineage ends in perfection With Jesus, Immanuel, God with us Through the most unlikely vessel A young girl, Mary, humbly surrenders Pondering it all in her heart Her whole life pregnant with anticipation How could this be? The Savior of the nation Yes, but there was more for this God Child would invade earth with truth in His Incarnation ~DFD
Advent Hope Playlist
Music has always helped me mark time, keeping pace with the rhythm of peace. I want slow down and rest in the longing. This playlist helps me do just that I can be present in this season of waiting with the help of those who created these beautiful songs. May this Advent season continue to help you slowly find your way to the Light of the World.
The light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome it.
John 1:5
